THE COURSES
Te Arai
Te Arai links boasts 36 of the purest holes the country has to offer, and chances are you have already seen some of these holes on social media.
The North Course combines natural land features with history; an ancient Māori Pā and towering pines overlooking the rolling sand dunes. There are only seven holes that come with ocean views, however, the inland greens and shapes of the fairways more than make up for that.
The South Course is a links style course that challenges the mind as much as the ability, there is plenty of risk and reward. The natural contours shaping the fairways and greens, it is basically fairway or sand all the way until the green. Add in the fact that the beach is a lob wedge away on eight of the eighteen holes, it makes for a seriously impressive day out.

Mangawhai
Mangawhai Golf Club is home to its scenic 18-hole championship golf course, consistently ranked among New Zealand’s top 25 courses. Being a sand-based coastal course it is always playable, offering challenge and reward for golfers of every ability. Well groomed fairways and immaculate greens are a hallmark of the course, with greens that are quick and true. The course is set amidst native flora and follows the naturally gentle undulations of the landscape, acknowledged as ideal golf terrain by leading golf course architects.
There are not many courses in New Zealand that can match the total Mangawhai Golf Club package of great golf, good value and a friendly welcome.
Waipu
Based on the dunes overlooking Uretiti Beach, Waipu is the perfect laid back beach course for your trip. Having completed recent upgrades, all 18 fairways are now fully irrigated which means the sand based course remains dry even through winter. Sparsely placed Southern Rata trees and bunkers make a number of greens difficult to access, however the links style fairways with thick rough in landing zones offers a risk-reward strategy off the tee.
With a mix of challenging, blind tee shots and open fairways, Waipu caters for all golfers. When you throw in the views you will take in while playing here on almost every hole, it really is a showcase of the raw, natural beauty that lies within the Northland region.
